The Team That Keeps Us Going
Seth oversees the day-to-day operations of all of Pegram Builders, including project planning, team coordination, quality, schedules, communication, and the systems that keep work moving. After over 10 years of hands-on experience across hundreds of residential projects, he brings both construction knowledge and operational leadership to every part of the company. Seth's role is to make sure the promise made at the beginning of a project is carried through the details of the build.
When Seth isn't working, you can usually find him relaxing at home with his wife and his newborn son, grilling something, watching Clemson Tigers football, or serving as a deacon at his church. He enjoys fishing, the beach, and spending time with family!
How We Build
Most contractors frame a deck, nail down the boards, and move on. We do it differently.
Joist Tape On Every Deck
Joist tape costs about $200 per deck. Most builders skip it. We have used it since 2016 because it prevents moisture from rotting the framing. Zero joist failures on any deck we have built.
Aluminum Screen Systems
We stopped using wood-frame screens in 2017 after seeing too many warp and fail within 5 years. Aluminum holds up in Asheville humidity without maintenance.
Double Flashing at Ledger Boards
The ledger board is where most deck failures start. Water gets behind it, rots the rim joist, and the deck pulls away from the house. We use double flashing with a kick-out to direct water away.
Screw-Only Fastening
Nails work loose over time. Every deck board we install is screwed down. It takes longer, but you will never have popped nails to deal with.
Engineered Solutions for Slopes
Flat-land techniques don't work on Asheville hillsides. We use helical piers when soil is unstable, engineer beam spans for long drops, and add lateral bracing so elevated decks do not sway.
