Custom Decks
We build composite, pressure treated, and cedar decks for Asheville homes. Every deck gets joist tape, double flashing, and screw-only fastening because those details are what keep a deck from rotting in mountain humidity. We have built everything from ground-level patios in Kenilworth to 30-foot elevated decks on North Asheville hillsides.
Screened Porches
Asheville's bug season runs from April through October. A screened porch gives you the mountain views without the mosquitoes. We build screened porches as standalone structures or as additions to existing decks, and we handle the framing, screening, roofing, and electrical.
Covered Porches
A covered porch extends your living space year-round. We build them with standing-seam metal roofing or shingled roofs to match your home. Asheville gets 47+ inches of rain a year, so proper drainage and flashing are not optional. We handle both.
Garages
Detached garages, attached garages, and garage conversions. We build them with concrete foundations, framed walls, and finished interiors if you need workshop or storage space. Asheville's mountain lots often require custom foundation work to handle the grade.

Quality Techniques
We use joist tape on every deck. It costs about $200 more per project, but we have never had a joist failure on any deck we have built since 2016. We use double flashing at every wall connection.
We use screw-only fastening. No nails. And we use picture frame trim boards for a clean finished edge. A lot of builders skip all of that.

We stand behind our work with a 1 year workmanship warranty. Materials carry manufacturer warranties that we pass through to you.

What Makes Building in Asheville Different
Asheville sits at 2,100 feet in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The city gets over 47 inches of rain per year and goes through hard freeze-thaw cycles from November through March. That combination is tough on outdoor structures.
Most Asheville properties have some slope. Flat lots are rare. That means footings, load calculations, and drainage all require more attention than they would on flat ground. We have built on hillsides across North Asheville, Kenilworth, Montford, and Town Mountain where the grade drops 10 feet or more across a single lot.
Buncombe County enforces the North Carolina Residential Code. Any deck over 30 inches above grade or attached to the house needs a permit, engineered plans for certain spans, and multiple inspections.
We have pulled over 300 permits in Buncombe County since 2013. We handle the full process.
Asheville's dense hardwood canopy means decks accumulate leaf litter and moisture faster than in open areas. Composite decking handles this better than pressure treated lumber, which has a shorter lifespan here than it does in drier climates. We will tell you which material makes sense for your specific lot.
