Quality Techniques
We use joist tape on every deck. It costs about $200 more per project, but we have never had a joist failure on any deck we have built since 2016. We use double flashing at every wall connection.
We use screw-only fastening. No nails. And we use picture frame trim boards for a clean finished edge. A lot of builders skip all of that.

What Makes Building in Weaverville Different
Weaverville sits at about 2,300 feet in northern Buncombe County, just 15 minutes from downtown Asheville. The area has a small-town feel with rapid growth happening. The Reems Creek area features older farmhouses mixed with new construction.
The Great Craggy Mountains dominate the views and create a tight-knit mountain community.
Most Weaverville lots have moderate slopes. The terrain is more forgiving than higher elevation areas but still requires attention to drainage and footings. We have built across older farmhouses and newer subdivisions in the area.
Buncombe County enforces the North Carolina Residential Code. Any deck over 30 inches above grade or attached to the house needs a permit and inspections. We have pulled over 300 permits in Buncombe County since 2013 and manage the full process.
Weaverville's elevation and mountain setting create morning and evening fog that deposits moisture on outdoor structures. The dense tree canopy in the Reems Creek area means decks accumulate leaves and moisture faster than in open areas. Composite decking with proper flashing holds up better than pressure treated lumber in these conditions.
